  • If you haven’t tried it yet, check out Figgieville’s Pecan Torte and give it a try—it is a most delicious people treat.
  • Vegetables are taking a bit of a break this month, but spinach and chard are back this week. Thanks to Beyond Organics!
  • Keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks for a new batch of beef from Green Fork Farm.

Mark your calendars

The Dig In! Food and Farming Festival is coming up soon in Fayetteville on February 28, March 1 and 2. Join us to learn about and celebrate food and farming with classes, workshops, films, discussions, opening reception, keynote address, seed swaps, information and vendor fair, food, and children’s activities. This year’s keynote speaker is Brad Lancaster, an expert on water harvesting, water management, and permaculture (more about Brad at harvestingrainwater.com).

In addition to a full day of programming for the community on Saturday, this year the festival will include a Farmer Friday program which includes workshops for farmers, advanced gardeners, and water management enthusiasts. The festival will also feature films in the afternoon on Thursday, and in the evenings on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Information and passes available at diginfestival.com. Don’t miss it!

You can also ask us about the festival at the market, so come on down and find out what it’s all about, and get some great local food and handmade products. See you on Wednesday.
